15.11. Mark 10:17-27

Mark 10:Rikas nuorukainen

(Matt. 19:16–30; Luuk. 18:18–30)

17. Jeesuksen lähtiessä jatkamaan

matkaa muuan mies juoksi hänen luokseen,

polvistui hänen eteensä ja kysyi:

”Hyvä opettaja, mitä minun on tehtävä,

että perisin iankaikkisen elämän?”

18. Jeesus vastasi hänelle: ”Miksi

sanot minua hyväksi? Ei kukaan

ole hyvä paitsi Jumala yksin.

19. Käskyt sinä tiedät: älä tapa12, älä

tee huorin, älä varasta, älä anna väärää

todistusta, älä riistä, kunnioita

isääsi ja äitiäsi.” 2. Moos. 20:12–16;

Mal. 3:5; Room. 13:9

20. Mies sanoi hänelle: ”Opettaja,

kaikkea tätä olen noudattanut nuoruudestani

asti.” Fil. 3:6

21. Niin Jeesus katsoi häneen, rakasti

häntä ja sanoi: ”Yksi sinulta

puuttuu. Mene ja myy kaikki, mitä sinulla

on, ja anna rahat köyhille, niin sinulla

on aarre taivaassa. Tule sitten ja

seuraa minua.”13 Matt. 6:19,20, 13:44–46;

Luuk. 12:33

22. Mutta mies synkistyi siitä puheesta

ja lähti pois murheellisena, sillä

hänellä oli paljon omaisuutta.

1. Tim. 6:17–19

23. Silloin Jeesus katsahti ympärilleen

ja sanoi opetuslapsilleen: ”Kuinka

vaikeaa onkaan niiden, joilla on

paljon omaisuutta, päästä Jumalan

valtakuntaan!”

24. Opetuslapset hämmästelivät hänen

sanojaan, mutta Jeesus rupesi

taas puhumaan ja sanoi heille: ”Lapset,

kuinka vaikeaa onkaan päästä

Jumalan valtakuntaan!14 1. Tim. 6:8–10

25. Helpompi on kamelin mennä

neulansilmän läpi kuin rikkaan päästä

Jumalan valtakuntaan.”

26. He hämmästyivät vielä enemmän

ja sanoivat toisilleen: ”Kuka sitten voi

pelastua?”

12 10:19. Ks. alaviite Matt. 5:21.

13 10:21. Bys.: ”Tule sitten, ota ristisi ja seuraa minua.”

14 10:24. Bys.: ”Lapset, kuinka vaikea onkaan niiden,

jotka luottavat omaisuuteensa, päästä Jumalan

valtakuntaan!”

Mark. 10– 88 –

Evankeliumi Markuksen mukaan

27. Jeesus katsahti heihin ja sanoi:

”Ihmisille se on mahdotonta mutta ei Jumalalle  sillä Jumalalle on kaikki mahdollista

Mark 10:17-27Amplified Bible (AMP)The Rich Young Ruler17 As He was leaving on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good Teacher [You who are essentially good and morally perfect], what shall I do to inherit eternal life [that is, eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?” 18 Jesus said to him, “[a]Why do you call Me good? No one is [essentially] good [by nature] except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not testify falsely, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” 20 And he replied to Him, “Teacher, I have [carefully] kept all these [commandments] since my [b]youth.” 21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love (high regard, compassion) for him, and He said to him, “You lack one thing: go and sell all your property and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have [abundant] treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].” 22 But the man was saddened at Jesus’ words, and he left grieving, because he owned much property and had many possessions [which he treasured more than his relationship with God].
23 Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who are wealthy [and cling to possessions and status as security] to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 The disciples were [
c]amazed and bewildered by His words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is [for those who place their hope and confidence in riches] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man [who places his faith in wealth or status] to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 They were completely and utterly astonished, and said to Him, “Then who can be saved [from the wrath of God]?” 27 Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”Footnotes:Mark 10:18 Jesus was affirming His deity by challenging the man to recognize Him as Messiah.Mark 10:20 After reaching the age of thirteen a Jewish boy was personally responsible for keeping the Law.Mark 10:24
What Jesus said ran contrary to the conventional wisdom among the Jews (and other ancient peoples). It was commonly thought that wealthy people who did their duty financially to the poor and their community were assured entry into the kingdom of God.

Mark 10:17-27Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
17 And as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, Teacher, [You are [
a]essentially and perfectly [b]morally] good, what must I do to inherit eternal life [that is, [c]to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?18 And Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me [[d]essentially and perfectly [e]morally] good? There is no one [[f]essentially and perfectly [g]morally] good—except God alone.19 You know the commandments: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.20 And he replied to Him, Teacher, I have carefully guarded and observed all these and taken care not to violate them from my boyhood.21 And Jesus, looking upon him, loved him, and He said to him, You lack one thing; go and sell all you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come [and] accompany Me [[h]walking the same road that I walk].22 At that saying the man’s countenance fell and was gloomy, and he went away grieved and sorrowing, for he was holding great possessions.23 And Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, With what difficulty will those who possess wealth and [i]keep on holding it enter the kingdom of God!24 And the disciples were amazed and bewildered and perplexed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how hard it is [j]for those who trust (place their confidence, their sense of safety) in riches to enter the kingdom of God!25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.26 And they were shocked and exceedingly astonished, and said to Him and [k]to one another, Then who can be saved?
27 Jesus glanced around at them and said, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.
Mark 10:26 Many ancient manuscripts add “to one another.”

Mark 10:17-27The Message (MSG)To Enter God’s Kingdom17 As he went out into the street, a man came running up, greeted him with great reverence, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?”18-19 Jesus said, “Why are you calling me good? No one is good, only God. You know the commandments: Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, honor your father and mother.”20 He said, “Teacher, I have—from my youth—kept them all!”21 Jesus looked him hard in the eye—and loved him! He said, “There’s one thing left: Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor. All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth. And come follow me.”22 The man’s face clouded over. This was the last thing he expected to hear, and he walked off with a heavy heart. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and not about to let go.23-25 Looking at his disciples, Jesus said, “Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who ‘have it all’ to enter God’s kingdom?” The disciples couldn’t believe what they were hearing, but Jesus kept on: “You can’t imagine how difficult. I’d say it’s easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for the rich to get into God’s kingdom.”26 That set the disciples back on their heels. “Then who has any chance at all?” they asked.27 Jesus was blunt: “No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you let God do it.”

Mark 10:17-27Living Bible (TLB)17 As he was starting out on a trip, a man came running to him and knelt down and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get to heaven?”18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God is truly good! 19 But as for your question—you know the commandments: don’t kill, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, respect your father and mother.”20 “Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve never once[a] broken a single one of those laws.”21 Jesus felt genuine love for this man as he looked at him. “You lack only one thing,” he told him; “go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor—and you shall have treasure in heaven—and come, follow me.”22 Then the man’s face fell, and he went sadly away, for he was very rich.23 Jesus watched him go, then turned around and said to his disciples, “It’s almost impossible for the rich to get into the Kingdom of God!”24 This amazed them. So Jesus said it again: “Dear children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches[b] to enter the Kingdom of God. 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”26 The disciples were incredulous! “Then who in the world can be saved, if not a rich man?” they asked.27 Jesus looked at them intently, then said, “Without God, it is utterly impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
