1 Tim 5. Käskymme
päämääränä on rakkaus,
joka tulee puhtaasta sydämestä,
hyvästä omastatunnosta ja
vilpittömästä
uskosta. 5. Moos. 6:5; Matt. 22:37;Room.
13:8–10
Kiitos Jumalan laupeudesta
12. Minä kiitän Herraamme Kristusta
Jeesusta, joka on antanut minulle
voimaa.
Kiitän
häntä siitä, että hän katsoi
minut
uskolliseksi ja asetti palvelukseensa,
13.
minut, entisen pilkkaajan, vainoojan
ja
väkivallantekijän. Mutta minut
armahdettiin,
koska epäuskossani en
tiennyt,
mitä tein. Ap. t. 8:3, 9:1, 22:4;1. Kor. 15:9
14. Meidän Herramme armo on ollut
ylenpalttinen vaikuttaen uskoa ja
rakkautta,
joka on Kristuksessa Jeesuksessa.Room.
5:20
15. Tämä sana on varma ja täysin
vastaanottamisen arvoinen: KristusJeesus on tullut maailmaan pelastamaan
syntisiä, joista minä olen suurin.

1 Timothy 1Living Bible (TLB) 5 What
I am eager for is that all the Christians there will be filled with love that
comes from pure hearts, and that their minds will be clean and their faith
strong.
12 How thankful I am to Christ Jesus our Lord for choosing me as one of his messengers, and giving me the strength to be faithful to him,
13 even though I used to scoff at the name of Christ. I hunted down his people, harming them in every way I could. But God had mercy on me because I didn’t know what I was doing, for I didn’t know Christ at that time.
14 Oh, how kind our Lord was, for he showed me how to trust him and become full of the love of Christ Jesus.
15 How true it is, and how I long that everyone should know it, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—and I was the greatest of them all.

1 Timothy 1The Message (MSG)1 5-7 The
whole point of what we’re urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by
self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God. Those who fail to keep
to this point soon wander off into cul-de-sacs of gossip. They set themselves
up as experts on religious issues, but haven’t the remotest idea of what
they’re holding forth with such imposing eloquence.
12-14 I’m so grateful to Christ Jesus for making me adequate to do this work. He went out on a limb, you know, in trusting me with this ministry. The only credentials I brought to it were invective and witch hunts and arrogance. But I was treated mercifully because I didn’t know what I was doing—didn’t know Who I was doing it against! Grace mixed with faith and love poured over me and into me. And all because of Jesus.
15-19 Here’s a word you can take to heart and depend on: Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. I’m proof—Public Sinner Number One—of someone who could never have made it apart from sheer mercy. And now he shows me off—evidence of his endless patience—to those who are right on the edge of trusting him forever.
Deep honor and bright glory
to the King of All Time—
One God, Immortal, Invisible,
ever and always. Oh, yes!
I’m passing this work on to you, my son Timothy. The prophetic word that was directed to you prepared us for this. All those prayers are coming together now so you will do this well, fearless in your struggle, keeping a firm grip on your faith and on yourself. After all, this is a fight we’re in.

5 But the goal of our instruction is love [which springs] from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able for this, because He considered me faithful and trustworthy, putting me into service [for this ministry],
13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer [of our Lord] and a persecutor [of His church] and a shameful and outrageous and violent aggressor [toward believers]. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief.
14 The grace of our Lord [His amazing, unmerited favor and blessing] flowed out in superabundance [for me, together] with the faith and love which are [realized] in Christ Jesus.
15 [b]This is a faithful and trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance and approval, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.
1 Timothy 1:15 An unusual clause used only five times in the NT. See also 3:1; 4:9; 2 Tim 2:11; Titus 3:8.
