Sentähden Herra odottaa, että voisi olla
teille armollinen, sentähden hän nousee armahtaaksensa teitä; sillä Herra on oikeuden
Jumala. Autuaita kaikki, jotka häntä odottavat!

18 And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the
Lord—
3 And shall make Him of quick understanding, and
His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord.
And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing
of His ears;4 But with righteousness and justice
shall He judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek, the poor, and
the downtrodden of the earth; and He shall smite the earth and the
oppressor with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall
slay the wicked.

11 1-5 A green Shoot will sprout from Jesse’s stump,
from his roots a budding Branch.
The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him,
the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength,
the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God.
Fear-of-God
will be all his joy and delight.
He won’t judge by appearances,
won’t decide on the basis of hearsay.
He’ll judge the needy by what is right,
render decisions on earth’s poor with justice.
His words will bring everyone to awed attention.
A mere breath from his lips will topple the wicked.
Each morning he’ll pull on sturdy work clothes and boots,
and build righteousness and faithfulness in the land.
