22.11.2022 Jes 52:13-15

Isaiah 52:13-15 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition 13 Behold, My [a]Servant shall deal wisely and shall prosper; He shall be exalted and extolled and shall stand very high.

14 [For many the Servant of God became an object of horror; many were astonished at Him.] His face and His whole appearance were marred more than any man’s, and His form beyond that of the sons of men—but just as many were astonished at Him,

15 So shall He startle and sprinkle many nations, and kings shall shut their mouths because of Him; for that which has not been told them shall they see, and that which they have not heard shall they consider and understand. Footnotes Isaiah 52:13 See footnote on Isa. 42:1.

Isaiah 52:13-15 New Living Translation

The Lord’s Suffering Servant

13 See, my servant will prosper;

    he will be highly exalted.

14 But many were amazed when they saw him.[a]

    His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human,

    and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.

15 And he will startle[b] many nations.

    Kings will stand speechless in his presence.

For they will see what they had not been told;

    they will understand what they had not heard about.[c]

Footnotes  52:14 As in Syriac version; Hebrew reads you.

52:15a Or cleanse.

52:15b Greek version reads Those who have never been told about him will see, / and those who have never heard of him will understand. Compare Rom 15:21.

 Romans 15:21 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition 21 But [instead I would act on the principle] as it is written, They shall see who have never been told of Him, and they shall understand who have never heard [of Him].

Romans 15:21  New Living Translation

21 I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says,

“Those who have never been told about him will see,

    and those who have never heard of him will understand.”[a] Footnotes 15:21 Isa 52:15 (Greek version).
