Siinä ilmestyi meille Jumalan rakkaus, että Jumala lähetti ainokaisen Poikansa maailmaan, että me eläisimme hänen kauttansa. Siinä on rakkaus-ei siinä, että me rakastimme Jumalaa, vaan siinä, että hän rakasti meitä ja lähetti Poikansa meidän syntiemme sovitukseksi.
