Mat 17:10-13 Opetuslapset kysyivät häneltä: ”Miksi sitten kirjanoppineet sanovat, että Elian pitää tulla ensin?” 11Jeesus vastasi: ”Elia todellakin tulee ja asettaa kaiken kohdalleen. 12 Mutta minä sanon teille, että Elia on jo tullut. He eivät kuitenkaan tunteneet häntä vaan tekivät hänelle, mitä tahtoivat. Samoin myös Ihmisen Poika joutuu kärsimään heidän käsissään.” 13Silloin opetuslapset ymmärsivät, että hän puhui heille Johannes Kastajasta.
Matthew 17:10-13The disciples asked Him, Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
11 He replied, Elijah does come and will get everything restored andready.
12 But I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know orrecognize him, but did to him as they liked. So also the Son of Man is going to be treated andsuffer at their hands.
13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them about John the Baptist. [Mal. 4:5.]
