Kun Herra käänsi Siionin kohtalon, niin me olimme kuin unta näkeväiset.2 Silloin oli meidän suumme naurua täynnä, ja kielemme riemua täynnä; silloin sanottiin pakanain keskuudessa: "Herra on tehnyt suuria heitä kohtaan".3 Niin, Herra on tehnyt suuria meitä kohtaan; siitä me iloitsemme.4 Herra, käännä meidän kohtalomme, niinkuin sadepurot Etelämaassa.5 Jotka kyynelin kylvävät, ne riemuiten leikkaavat.6 He menevät itkien, kun kylvösiemenen vievät; he palajavat riemuiten, kun lyhteensä tuovat.
