Jes 9:1-6 Kansa, joka pimeydessä vaeltaa, näkee suuren valon. Niille, jotka asuvat kuoleman varjon maassa, loistaa valkeus. Jes. 60:1−3; Luuk. 1:79; Joh. 1:9

2.Sinä teet kansan suureksi, annat sille suuren ilon. He iloitsevat sinun edessäsi niin kuin elonkorjuun aikana iloitaan, niin kuin saaliinjaossa riemuitaan. Jesaja 9–10

3.Sillä heidän kuormansa ikeen, heidän hartioitaan lyövän kepin ja heidän käskijänsä sauvan sinä särjet niin kuin Midianin päivänä.  Tuom. 7:22

4. Kaikki taistelun melskeessä kulutetut sotasaappaat ja veren tahrimat vaatteet poltetaan, ne joutuvat tulen ruuaksi.  Ps. 46:10

5.Sillä lapsi on meille syntynyt, poika on meille annettu. Hänen harteillaan on herruus, ja hänen nimensä on Ihmeellinen neuvonantaja, Väkevä Jumala, Iankaikkinen isä, Rauhanruhtinas. Jer. 32:19; Sak. 9:10; Luuk. 1:31,2:11

6.Herruus on oleva suuri ja rauha loppumaton Daavidin valtaistuimella ja hänen valtakunnallaan. Se vahvistetaan ja lujitetaan oikeudella ja vanhurskaudella nyt ja ikuisesti. Herran Sebaotin kiivaus on sen tekevä.  Jes. 37:32; Dan. 7:14; Luuk. 1:32

Isaiah 9:1-6 (NLT)

*Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.

*The people who walk in darkness will see a great light.For those who live in a land of deep darkness,*  a light will shine.

You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice.They will rejoice before you  as people rejoice at the harvest  and like warriors dividing the plunder.

For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders.You will break the oppressor's rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.

The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by warwill all be burned.  They will be fuel for the fire.

For a child is born to us,  a son is given to us.The government will rest on his shoulders.  And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,* Mighty God,  Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
