1 Aikak 4:9-10 Javesta
pidettiin suuremmassa arvossa kuin veljiään. Hänen äitinsä oli antanut hänelle
nimen Javes, sanoen: ”Olen synnyttänyt hänet kivulla.”
Javes huusi avukseen Israelin Jumalaa ja sanoi: ”Jospa sinä siunaisit
minua runsaasti ja laajentaisit alueeni! Jospa kätesi oli si minun kanssani ja
sinä varjelisit minut pahasta, niin ettei minun tarvitsisi kärsiä kipuja!” Ja
Jumala teki, mitä hän pyysi.
1 Chronicles
4:9-10 New International Version (NIV)
9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His
mother had named him Jabez,[a] saying,
“I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of
Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be
with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God
granted his request.
Footnotes:1 Chronicles 4:9 Jabez sounds like the Hebrew for pain.’
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
(AMPC)
9 Jabez was honorable above his brothers; but his
mother named him Jabez [sorrow maker], saying, Because I bore him in pain.
10 Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that
You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me,
and You would keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his
request.
With GOd impossibility turns
to possibility, curse turns to possibility, curse turns to blessing; bondage
turns to freedom. Because of God Jabez’s life of blessings and honour
contradicted his name of sorrow and pain.
