12.06. Kol 2:8

Matt. 15:2,3; Gal. 4:3,9,10; Hepr. 13:9

Colossians 2:8Amplified Bible (AMP)

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the [a]elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Christ.

Footnotes: Colossians 2:8 Perhaps a reference to ancient philosophies based on the belief that only the material world is real.

Colossians 2:8-10The Message (MSG)8-10 Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.

11.06. Kol 2:12-14

Kol 2:12-14 Teidät on haudattu hänen kanssaan kasteessa, ja siinä teidät on myös herätetty hänen kanssaan uskon kautta. Tämän uskon vaikuttaa Jumala, joka herätti hänet kuolleista.
Room. 6:3,4; Ef. 2:6
Ef. 2:15; 1. Piet. 2:24
Colossians 2:12-14Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
12 [Thus [a]you were circumcised when] you were buried with Him in [your] baptism, in which you were also raised with Him [[b]to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God [[c]as displayed] when He raised Him up from the dead.
13 And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions,
14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared [d]completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.
Footnotes: Colossians 2:12 Marvin Vincent, Word Studies: “The aorist tense puts the burial as contemporaneous with the circumcision.”
Colossians 2:12-14Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (worldliness, manner of life), God made you alive together with Christ, having [freely] forgiven us all our sins, 14 having canceled out the [a]certificate of debt consisting of [b]legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross.
Footnotes:Colossians 2:14 This term refers to a debtor’s handwritten note acknowledging the debt.Colossians 2:14 I.e. the requirements found in the Mosaic Law which were violated. The debt is the punishment due for the violator’s sins. Gentiles were never directly liable to the Law, but as Paul explains in Rom 2:12-16, God holds them responsible for violating the principles of the Law that they acknowledge of their own volition.

09.06. Kol 1:6

Mark. 4:8,9; Ap. t. 6:

Which has come to you. Indeed, in the whole world [that Gospel] is bearing fruit and still is growing [a][by its own inherent power], even as it has done among yourselves ever since the day you first heard and came to know and understand the grace of God in truth. [You came to know the grace or undeserved favor of God in reality, deeply and clearly and thoroughly, becoming accurately and intimately acquainted with it.]
Colossians 1:6Amplified Bible (AMP)
which has come to you. Indeed, just as in the whole world the gospel is constantly bearing fruit and spreading [by God’s power], just as it has been doing among you ever since the day you first heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth [becoming thoroughly and deeply acquainted with it].
