12. Minä kiitän Herraamme Kristusta Jeesusta, joka on antanut minulle voimaa. Kiitän häntä siitä, että hän katsoi minut uskolliseksi ja asetti palvelukseensa,
13. minut, entisen pilkkaajan, vainoojan ja väkivallantekijän. Mutta minut armahdettiin, koska epäuskossani en tiennyt, mitä tein. Ap. t. 8:3,9:1,22:4; 1. Kor. 15:9
14. Meidän Herramme armo on ollut ylenpalttinen vaikuttaen uskoa ja rakkautta, joka on Kristuksessa Jeesuksessa. Room. 5:20
15. Tämä sana on varma ja täysin vastaanottamisen arvoinen: Kristus Jeesus on tullut maailmaan pelastamaan syntisiä, joista minä olen suurin. Matt. 1:21; Luuk. 19:10; 1. Joh. 3:5
16. Mutta minut armahdettiin, jotta Kristus Jeesus minussa ennen muita osoittaisi kaiken kärsivällisyytensä, esikuvaksi niille, jotka vastedes uskovat häneen ja saavat iankaikkisen elämän.

11 autuaan Jumalan kirkkauden evankeliumin mukaisesti, joka on minulle uskottu.
12 Minä kiitän häntä, joka minulle on voimaa antanut, Kristusta Jeesusta, meidän Herraamme, siitä, että hän katsoi minut uskolliseksi ja asetti palvelukseensa
13 minut, entisen pilkkaajan ja vainoojan ja väkivallantekijän. Mutta minä sain laupeuden, koska olin tehnyt sitä tietämättömänä, epäuskossa;
14 ja meidän Herramme armo oli ylen runsas, vaikuttaen uskoa ja rakkautta, joka on Kristuksessa Jeesuksessa.
15 Varma on se sana ja kaikin puolin vastaanottamisen arvoinen, että Kristus Jeesus on tullut maailmaan syntisiä pelastamaan, joista minä olen suurin.
16 Mutta sentähden minä sain laupeuden, että Jeesus Kristus minussa ennen muita osoittaisi kaiken pitkämielisyytensä, esikuvaksi niille, jotka tulevat uskomaan häneen, itsellensä iankaikkiseksi elämäksi.
17 Mutta iankaikkiselle kuninkaalle, katoamattomalle, näkymättömälle, ainoalle Jumalalle, kunnia ja kirkkaus aina ja iankaikkisesti! Amen.

11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able for this, because He considered me faithful and trustworthy, putting me into service [for this ministry], 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer [of our Lord] and a persecutor [of His church] and a shameful and outrageous and violent aggressor [toward believers]. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord [His amazing, unmerited favor and blessing] flowed out in superabundance [for me, together] with the faith and love which are [realized] in Christ Jesus. 15 [a]This is a faithful and trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance and approval, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost. 16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost [of sinners], Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example or pattern for those who [b]would believe in Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the King of the ages [eternal], immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Paul’s Gratitude for God’s Mercy
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, 13 even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. 14 Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.
15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.
